I feel truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to buy Brandy. Brandy's lines are filled with great working and obedience dogs of the past. You can see where she gets her drive, intensity, looks, and passion just looking through her pedigree which boasts with 11 OTCH dogs in it!!. She showed as an adolescent and has one confirmation point to date. She did not really enjoy it so we went on to do other things. She still humors me occasionally and will go around the ring if I ask her to. Brandy has two true loves- her ball and herding. I used her love for the ball to teach her all of her basic and advanced obedience commands. She was a graduate of basic obedience by 4 months. At 6 months she passed the Advanced Basic class. She took and passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test then as well. Her ball obsession geared us to the logical choice of an activity to get her involved in- flyball. She started training in February of 2000 and by September she was running in her first tournament. She earned her FGDCH in April 2007. Her fastest time is 4.01 seconds over 10" jumps! At almost 8 years old she still runs 4.2-4.4 without even having a swimmer's turn. She runs with C.I.A. Flyball Team in Virginia. She competes in NAFA and U-Fli. Her jump height in U-Fli is 10".
Brandy has held true to the cattle and sheep working lines from her dam. She has a bit eye and an intense desire to work. We train with Carol Calhoun in Elizabeth City, North Carolina and Dee Lee of Way to Me Kennels in Sanford, North Carolina. Brandy absolutely loves it. She and Dee competed in Started A at the Regional Speciality in Sanford, North Carolina in June 2005. She got a score of 91 and placed 5th. She and I also passed her first PT test then as well. In October we went on to pass her second PT test and earned her PT title. In April 2006 Brandy placed with a pair of 2nds and scores of 87's earning her second and third Started A legs and HSAs title. Brandy and I debuted in the ASCA herding arena in May 2006. She scored a qualifying score of 79 in her first trial. She earned a 77 and placed third in her second trial and earned her STDs title. She also has her first open leg with a score of 96. We started AHBA trialing in July 2006. She and I earned her first HTAD1 leg with a qualifying score of 82/100. The next day she placed 6th, earned her second leg and HTAD1 title under Roy Johnson. She debuted in HTDI in October 2006 and earned her first leg under Wink Mason with an 82 and 5th place. |

Brandy earned her Rally Novice title in 3 shows April and May 2008. Though she did what she was asked, she still has a lot of energy and found rally to by much too boring. Oh well, perhaps almost 9 is still too young for obedience!! Brandy has proven to be a wonderful dam. She has had 5litters. Her pups have gone on to compete in conformation, flyball, agility, therapy work, herding, and Frisbee. More information about her offspring can be found on the Roll of Honor Page. Brandy has now been spayed. |
